Rock Ptarmigan Hunting

We hunt Rock Ptarmigan in Iceland and the hunting season starts the 15th October and ends 22nd December. We hunt the Rock Ptarmigan mostly in mountains and forest fields. The hunter has to find the bird himself by walking through the fields and flush the bird.

Iceland hunting guide offers custom Rock Ptarmigan guided hunting tours in Iceland from a day trip up to several days of hunting combining everything that we can offer you. We arrange the licenses needed guns and hunting gear.

Duration: From one day up to several days of hunting, your choice.

Firearm: Provided by us, semiautomatic or two barrel shotgun, your choice. We mainly use a 12 gauge shotguns with 26 – 28 inch barrels.

Ammunition: Provided by us, shotgun shells 2 ¾ long loaded with 32-42 grams of led. We let our customer choice their ammunition if they want to.

Other equipment: Provided by us if needed, snowshoes, gaiters and a hunting west.

Clothing: The weather varies much over the season, from up to 10 °C down below zero temperatures so the customer should dress accordingly.
