Trout Fishing
Contact usEyvindarlækur
Eyvindarlækur is in theory the lowest section of Reykjadalsá: Reykjadalsá flows into lake Vestmannsvatn, and from there the river continues as Eyvindarlækur until it enters the Laxá.
The river is renowned for its exceptional numbers of brown trout. While the average size is moderate, there is always the chance of encountering truly impressive fish, with trout in the 20–24 inch range present every season. The trout in Eyvindarlækur are highly surface-oriented and quick to rise, making the river particularly well suited for dry fly fishing throughout the summer.
All Atlantic salmon migrating into Reykjadalsá must pass through Eyvindarlækur first. A portion of these fish hold in the river, and some even spawn there. As a result, there is always a realistic chance of salmon, especially from late June and throughout the summer. In its best salmon season to date, Eyvindarlækur produced over 100 salmon.
Eyvindarlækur is often where we see the first surface activity of the season, with fish feeding confidently and visibly. Combined with its intimate character and consistent action, the river offers exciting and technical fishing in a beautiful setting.
